After been recruited through Crosby Employment he has spent the last 10months with us and last week he was awarded the North Lindsey College Construction & Building Services Apprentice of the year, 2016.
Jake was nominated by his Tutor from North Lindsey College and fought of some stiff competition from Chloe Roberts at White Plumbing and Lewis Hind of H&H Builders.
Adam Winter (18) is also an apprentice at G S Kelsey Ltd and he is pursuing an NVQ Level 2 in bricklaying. The two of them have settled in very well becoming valuable team members in a short space of time.
The two apprentices also attend North Lindsey College on day release to undertake their theory work which contributes towards an NVQ which will be completed by the summer of 2017.
Jake and Adam are just 2 of 100 apprentices currently enrolled with North Lindsey College on Construction related programmes. G S Kelsey Ltd Director, Matthew Robinson feels it is more important than ever for businesses to invest in young people.
“Young people can really flourish if they’re given the correct training and are mentored by experienced, enthusiastic people. Sharing knowledge and experiences will help them develop into integral team players who will help your business prosper. Kelsey’s have a history of employing apprentices, almost 20% of our current work force served an apprenticeship with the company and those individuals have contributed hugely to the recent growth of the business which saw our turnover reach £10M for the first time.”
G S Kelsey Ltd is also a member of the Construction Apprenticeship Partnership (CAP) with Matthew acting as Chair. The group founded by North Lindsey College work closely with local businesses and stakeholders, including North Lincolnshire Council, to develop initiatives that will increase the number of apprentices in construction throughout the county.
