Work began in mid-July to transform the popular venue, the £500,000 refurbishment made improvements to the following area:
Café – Comprising of alterations to the kitchen and servery, removal of the store and the fitting of stairs to gain access to the store room above. New kitchen facilities and equipment were installed for the café along with fresh new colourful lighting.
Toilets – The male, female and disabled WC were refurbished giving a clean, crisp, easily accessible area with baby changing facilities and fantastically designed splash backs.
Gift shop – Bespoke, colour changing display walls were created with standalone display units.
Meeting rooms – Across from the café area, a new opening with sliding partition doors was formed for improved access of a multi-function room with Wi-Fi, digital projector and catering options or the option to create a larger open space if required. Within this room stud partition walls were constructed to form a new chair store and kitchenette.
Externally, brickwork to the extension was pressure washed and PV panels were installed on the building’s roof. Within the courtyard at the rear, new seating and sun shading has been installed along with improved perimeter fencing and lighting.
Our site manager and operatives worked closely with the staff of 20-21 so minimal disruption was caused to the daily running of the centre. We would like to express our thanks for their co-operation throughout the project.
