The project involved the construction of a 77-bed dementia facility and a 34-bed close care facility for PrimeLife Ltd on a green field site on the outskirts of Scunthorpe.
The construction comprised trench fill foundations with traditional masonry cavity walls with pre cast concrete floor slabs to ground and first floor level. A trussed rafter roof with mixture of Sandtoft roof tiles and Rhepnaol Roof coverings to sections of the curved roof sections.
The external facade features Banbury DR Multi Red handmade bricks and Weber Pral M render to blockwork. Work was completed in 65 weeks including infrastructure works, i.e. adoptable road, attenuation tanks and all utilities connections.
This project was nominated for South Yorkshire and Humberside Building Excellence Awards 2011 and was awarded Highly Commended at the awards evening .
