G S Kelsey Ltd were appointed to completely transform the school over a 40 week period ready for the amalgamation of Key stage 1 and Key stage 2 pupils on the same site.
Our site team were tested by the amalgamation project at Primary Lane Primary School which consisted of 3 individual extensions totalling over 1,000m2 and an extensive refurbishment that led to a tradesman working in every room of the school.
With up to 55 tradesmen on site over the summer holiday period a collective effort by the local supply chain and our own workforce ensured that the phased completion dates were met and the school were able to gradually prepare for the onset of additional pupils.
The design incorporated bullnose facia and soffits, aluminium windows and a mixture of masonry and render finishes to the elevations to create a contemporary appearance that compliments the brand new Mellior Academy nearby. Ground source heat pumps and PV panels were installed to provide sustainable solutions to the heating and power requirements. Vaulted and sloping ceilings appear in each of the new classrooms creating a more unique environment to learn in.
