In 2019 we completed in excess of 50 units for local housing association Ongo homes. These units were a departure from their typical design used. A demand for one-bedroom flats as satisfied on an old parcel of council land. Partnering with local architect,BSB,we were responsible for the design and build 16 Nr flats circa 54 square metres each.
A traditional cavity construction was used including feature render and brickwork panels. A landscaped courtyard provides a communal outdoor space for residents. This courtyard proved challenging for the site based teams. The project needed phasing in such a way where we able to maintain access through the courtyard for telehandlers and plant. One out of the eight blocks had to remain at substructure level for most of the project facilitating vehicle movements to the other seven.. This block consisting of two flats was built expediently in the last 3 months of the program. The project was handed over on time in April 2019. The project team face many challenges not least local vandals sabotaging the work. The project is aesthetically pleasing and was designed in accordance with building regulations with assistance from North Lincolnshire Council. It is an early contender for the 2020 local authority building control awards. Photographs above showing overhead a site captured by a drone.
