Prime Life signalled their intent to become one of the region’s best care providers by investing over £2 million in their Care Village off Phoenix Parkway, Scunthorpe.

Kelsey’s worked closely and collaboratively with Prime Life for over 10 years and worked together in 2010 to build the original care home buildings. The two companies have combined once again with the same design team to successfully complete the project on time and under budget.

The entire site, designed by Corporate Architecture from Leicester now caters for a total of 145 residents. A new independent care facility with 34 bedrooms has been constructed using traditional construction techniques and the design compliments the two buildings originally constructed on the site. The use of colour through render and architectural facing blocks provides a unique aesthetic which creates an explosion of colour when entering the car park.

A single storey social centre with high level architectural glazing creates an imposing entrance to the new facility and the new recreation space has an abundance of natural light which will make it a pleasant place for residents to relax and interact with one another.

All stakeholders are delighted with the results and the use of local labour and a proven supply chain has had tremendous results in terms of quality. We’re also proud to have had numerous apprentices on site who have all benefitted from working on such a large, prestigious project. Providing learning and working opportunities to young people is of paramount importance to G S Kelsey Ltd and having a project of this size to work on gives apprentices the chance to experience an array of construction methods and techniques.
